Front views of the Belgian made KM eagle both on dark blue and green background. One can clearly see the difference in the background colour of both eagles. The dark blue was intended for all Kriegsmarine troops, the eagle with green backing was intended for coastal artillery troops.
When we put the green bacground and dark blue background eagles side by side , we see that there is a difference in size : the green eagle has a wing span of 85 mm , the dark blue eagle has a wing span of 90 - 92 mm. The height of both eagles is exactly 40 mm.
