Who was Erich Reitz ?

He was stationed at the Helgoland fortress.
Erich Reitz joined the NSDAP in 1933, he was asked to join the party, by the members who bought party uniforms from him. According to his denazification file, he “reluctantly agreed”. Because of his organizational skills he was soon promoted to Amtsleiter in Barmen. In this picture we see him wearing the NSDAP uniform for an Amtsleiter. Below the swastika armband he is also wearing an armband with the text “Leitung”.
After a financial dispute with the NSV (nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt), he allegedly left both the NSV and NSDAP towards the end of 1934

Although he claims to have left the Nazi party in 1934, he is still wearing the party membership swastika badge ( Parteiabzeichen) and the german eagle ( Reichsadler) at the lapel of his jacket.

Erich Reitz was very fond of his female employees and especially some of his secretaries. Here we see one of them assisting Herr Reitz at the depot in Schoten Deuzeld.
